Berkeley Rental Housing Coalition
We are dedicated to restoring fairness, efficiency and objectivity to Berkeley's rental housing policies.
In 2015 a group of rental housing providers got together to form the Berkeley Rental Housing Coalition (BRHC), the political and legal arm of the Berkeley Property Owners Association (BPOA). By pooling resources, the Coalition lobbies for the interests of income property owners in Berkeley. We seek a Rent Board and City Council that strive for a more balanced way of achieving agreed-upon goals and take into consideration the important role property owners play in our community. As a 501(c)6, the Coalition represents its members through its political action committee (PAC) and legal defense fund. We are working to advance a fair and even-handed approach to the city's Rental Stabilization and Just Cause Ordinances and are committed to safe, affordable and well-maintained housing in the City of Berkeley.
The Coalition has a ten person board and a full-time Executive Director. We are a non-profit and shares resources and an office with the Berkeley Property Owners Association. The Board of Directors is made up of a group of dedicated rental housing providers. They are community members, business owners and Bay Area natives.
